Today Stephen Williams met with members of Bristol's Somali community in order to listen to their views on the issues affecting them and to advise them on how to register to vote in the general and local elections in order to have a say on local and national politics.
Many of the Somalians living in Bristol reside in the wards of Lawrence Hill and Easton, which now form part of Bristol West following the boundary changes that have been implemented for the general election. Many others live in the Ashley area, which is part of the Bristol West constituency that Stephen represented in Parliament from 2005.
Commenting on the meeting Mr Williams said, "It is always useful for me to meet with community leaders in Bristol West in order to gain a deeper understanding of their concerns and needs. I am also very keen for Somalian-origin Bristolians to become more involved in local politics and community life."
