The building of new council houses is one of the most important challenges facing councils across the country. There is an urgent need for new social housing to provide those who need support with quality accommodation.
Affordable housing is in short supply at the moment and it makes perfect sense to allow council's to begin building accommodation again. If the council were allowed to begin building again the problems of over-crowding, homelessness and huge costs would be solved very quickly.
"I believe that councils should be allowed to do more to help those that are less advantaged than most of us in society. At the moment the Government is not allowing local councils enough freedom to provide quality accommodation for those who need it.
"At the moment there is too much central control over social housing. Local councils need to be given the authority to undertake new developments in order to provide for the citizens of Bristol."
