The smoking ban has been a longstanding campaign issue for Stephen. Even before being elected MP for Bristol West, he consistently declared his support for a smoking ban in all public places.
"The benefits will not be limited to public health. A Smoke Free Bristol will help make the city's many public places a cleaner and more enjoyable social environment."
Stephen Williams was Liberal Democrat Shadow Public Health Minister from 2005 to 2006 and spoke for the party on the Health Bill that banned smoking in public places. He was one of only three MPs given an award for his work by Cancer Research UK.
