Labour are turning students into consumers says Stephen Williams MP

Bristol University history students are protesting at cuts in tuition. Third year students have seen their lecture times cut to an average of just two hours a week.
Bristol West MP Stephen Williams, Lib Dem Shadow Higher Education Minister, is himself a history graduate of Bristol. He said, "I remember when I was a third year at Bristol that I didn't get much tuition but I had much more than two hours. But the big difference of course was that I didn't have to pay tuition fees. The government is turning students into consumers by charging fees. Students have a right to expect an adequate service for the amount they pay. Now that fees have risen to £3,000 for first years we can expect to see many more examples of arts students demanding value for money."
