Stephen said "The day was good fun and quite therapeutic. Some of the customers did a double take on seeing me at the till! I really enjoyed spending the morning seeing how volunteers can help out at Oxfam at first hand. They play a vital part in giving the national charity the resources it needs to fight poverty worldwide.
"There are many important works which only come about because of the generosity of volunteers. We can all help out our local community in some way or another, so whatever your skills or interests I'd encourage everyone to get involved and find a voluntary organisation they can support.
"Government often does not realise how much money they save from people giving their services for free. National Volunteer Week at least helps to acknowledge their invaluable contribution to society."
