During the final day of the debate on the Queen's speech he spoke for the first time, using the opportunity to call on the government to reform the voting system. He made the point that votes in safe seats like Bristol East, South and North West, should mean as much as a vote in a key marginal like Bristol West.
He also used the speech, as is customary, to talk a bit about his constituency and pay tribute to his predecessor, Valerie Davey.
